Description

This rug was handcrafted using the following local materials and materials. Natural dyed wool is obtained from local flocks of sheep. However, this cooperative only uses wool from their homes and sheep instead of buying them. This rug is made of 100% cotton with a strong integrity of the rug. This loom, used by cooperative weavers, is almost 50 years old. There are only two of them used by all the villagers throughout the year.

Cooperative Ixf N’Ighir was founded by a group of women from the village of Ixf N’Ighir to sell their products in an organized manner. The cooperative now has 20 women carved in a village in the edges of the Ait Bouguemez valley. All women are weavers, specializing in Beni Ourain rugs.
Naima’s handmade carpet. Naima has two children. She hopes that her children will be able to receive full-time education as she herself never had the opportunity to attend school. As a young girl, she learned the craft of weaving from her mother and focused on Hanbel. She joined the cooperative to support her family and pay the funds so that her children could attend school. Naima hopes that the cooperative will continue to grow and thrive.
